People & partnership

Company

An engineering company, not a resourcing one.

Dopstack designs, builds and operates software, cloud and AI systems for teams whose technology has become the constraint on what the business can do next.

Our approach

Engineering that moves the business forward.

UnderstandBuildOperate

Most of the work we take on has the same shape: a system that once fit the business no longer does. It might be a monolith that blocks every release, infrastructure that buckles under a predictable annual peak, or an AI prototype with no route into production. The technical problem is usually visible. The expensive part is the sequence — what to change first, and how to change it without stopping delivery.

We work as an engineering partner rather than a supplier of hands. That means our engineers talk directly to the people who own the problem, push back when a plan will not hold, and stay accountable for what happens after the system is live. It also means we would rather tell you a rewrite is unnecessary than sell you one.

Our practices span product engineering, cloud and platform engineering, applied AI, data and product design — deliberately overlapping, because the interesting problems rarely sit inside one of them.

What we believe

How we think about engineering.

These are the positions that shape what we recommend, and occasionally what we decline to build.

Architecture is a business decision

How a system is structured determines what the business can ship next year and what it will cost to run. We treat architecture as a commercial conversation, not a purely technical one.

Legacy systems deserve respect

A system that has run the business for a decade encodes a decade of hard-won rules. We modernize around that knowledge instead of assuming a rewrite will recover it.

AI is an engineering problem

The hard part of applied AI isn't the model — it's retrieval, evaluation, guardrails, cost and monitoring. We build AI the way we build any production system.

Delivery speed comes from safety

Teams ship fast when releases are tested, reversible and boring. Velocity is a consequence of good pipelines, not a trade-off against quality.

Principles

What we hold ourselves to.

Understand before building

We map the business problem, the existing system and the constraints before proposing an architecture. Most bad software is a correct solution to the wrong problem.

Production is the finish line

Work isn't done when it demos. It's done when it's deployed, monitored, documented and someone can operate it at 3am.

Boring where it counts

We use proven technology for the parts that must not fail, and save the novelty for where it earns a real advantage.

Reversible decisions

We prefer staged migrations, feature flags and rollback paths over big-bang cutovers. Being able to undo a change is a feature.

Write it down

Architecture decisions, runbooks and handover docs are deliverables. The system should outlive our involvement in it.

Say the difficult thing early

If a plan won't scale, or a deadline isn't real, we raise it while it's still cheap to change course.

Fit

Who we work best with.

We are a good fit for some problems and a poor one for others. These are the engagements where we add the most.

Teams with a system that has outgrown its design

The product works, but every change is slow and risky. You need someone who can modernize it without stopping delivery.

Teams who need engineering capacity with judgement

You don't need hands to close tickets — you need engineers who will question the ticket when it's wrong.

Teams taking AI from experiment to production

A prototype proved the idea. Now it needs evaluation, monitoring, access control and a cost model.

Teams building something genuinely new

There's no reference architecture for what you're doing, and the first few decisions will be expensive to reverse.
